XeroLinux ISO Price Change
This is not a post I wanted to write. But after sitting with it longer than I probably should have, I owe you the truth rather than a quiet change with no explanation.
The XeroLinux ISO price is going up.
Here is why.
The Reality Check
$ uptime --economy
>> cost_of_living: ▲ +significant
>> service_costs: ▲ +significant
>> project_revenue: ▼ unchanged
>> sustainability: ⚠ at_risk
The cost of running XeroLinux has climbed steadily over the past two years. Hosting, storage, mirrors, build infrastructure, and the tools that keep everything ticking have all gotten more expensive. Not a little. Noticeably. Personal circumstances have shifted too, the kind that quietly stack on top of everything else until the numbers just no longer add up.
Despite this change, the drive behind XeroLinux has never been stronger. Nothing stops the work. Not rising costs, not shifting circumstances, not anything. What you get is not just a download. It is a living, actively maintained system built by people who genuinely care. A one-time payment that buys you a lifetime of updates. The value we deliver far outshines the price tag, and that will never change.
What This Project Is, and Is Not
XeroLinux has never been about profit. It was born as a passion project, built on love for Arch Linux, for KDE Plasma, and for this community. None of that has changed.
But passion does not cover server bills. And pretending otherwise helps nobody, least of all the people who actually depend on this project to keep shipping.
“Rather than let this quietly fall apart behind the scenes, being upfront with you and keeping XeroLinux alive for the long haul is the only path worth taking.”
The T.U.I installer remains completely free. No price change there. Every path still leads to the same full XeroLinux experience.
What Changes, What Does Not
+ ISO price : adjusted upward
+ T.U.I : still free, unchanged
+ Core mission : same as always
+ Release cadence : unchanged
- Silent burnout : not on the table
The project does not change. The commitment does not change. The only thing changing is the number that keeps it alive.
To Everyone Who Has Supported This Project
Whether you donated, shared a post, filed a bug, helped someone in Discord, or simply used XeroLinux and enjoyed it, thank you. You are the reason this project still exists and keeps improving. I hope you understand, and I hope you stick around for what is still to come.
